 

#  6 From BBS Elected to National Academy of Sciences 

 





Researchers recognized for scientific achievements

Six BBS researchers (Steve Blacklow, Jon Clardy, Ben Ebert, Steve Liberles, Johannes Walter, and Yi Zhang) are among the 145 newly elected members of the [National Academy of Sciences](https://www.nasonline.org/news/2026-nas-election/) in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors a scientist can receive. Membership is determined by formal nominations from current Academy members, followed by an extensive vetting process that results in a final ballot at the Academy’s annual meeting in April.
