I came to graduate school to become a versatile scientist, unafraid to follow interesting questions wherever they might lead! Harvard BBS stood out to me because students learn not only a wide breadth of biology in courses but also how to tackle universally exciting, challenging problems in small-group discussions with world-renown faculty. These examples reflect the BBS culture in which great scientists are made in any discipline of biology, through following their curiosity and mastering skills.

I'm putting this philosophy into practice through co-mentorship in the labs of Sophie Helaine and Jeffrey Moffitt, combining microbiology, immunology, and single-cell transcriptomics to investigate how bacterial pathogens survive within immune cells.
